CONCERT ON COURT 1 - SIBERIAN
SIREN SOUNDS OFF INIMITABLY
They'd all been here before, three of them as champions, as the dolls' final four was determined: Lindsay Davenport (1999), Venus Williams (2000-01) Maria Sharapova (2004), and the slightly outsider, Amelie Mauresmo, although she was a semifinalist as recent as last year. >>>MORE

NO LONGER HER SERENE HIGHNESS,
TEARY SERENA FALLS TO MIGHTY MITE CRAYBAS
A Spaniard the star of the Sweat Sixteens? Hasn't happened with the guys for 33 years. But there was Senor Lopez - Feliciano to personalize it - out of Madrid, weaving his slimy (in some views) left-handed sorcery for a second straight upset.

TURBULENT TUESDAY AS SERENA AND HENMAN
ESCAPE, AND ACES ARE FLYING LIKE POPCORN
Why is the sun shining so fiercely? Aren't we in London,
and isn't this Wimbledon? Hasn't happened like this in
years. Umbrellas everywhere - as usual - but they're
weapons to ward off the rays, not the rain. Second day.
Not much should happen as the bottom halves of the singles
draws get sorted out. >>>MORE

ROGER'S BACK IN HIS OWN BACKYARD -
WIMBLEDON'S HISTORIC CENTRE COURT
By this time Roger has a tennis court pretty much
his own. It's called Centre Court, Wimbledon, where he
can do just about as he pleases - and did as the 128-year-old
tournament began to unfold once again in high heat and
high floral fashion. Packed with devotees and hydrangeas,
the All England Club seemed to revolve about Roger Federer,
the champion of 2003-04. >>>MORE
